What We Talked About

This episode is chaos from the jump. We try to make sense of Murder as a film, a franchise, and a moral universe where cheating, murder, and moonlighting as a DJ all somehow coexist. Nicky kicks things off with the structure: “90% of the movie is told in flashbacks,” and Adam immediately clarifies, “False flashbacks.” That becomes the lens for everything else — no one is reliable, nothing means what it says, and even the murder part of Murder is up for debate.

We bounce between plot breakdowns and total disbelief. There’s a lot of discussion about how bodies are moved, how many bullets are too many, and why the cops seem more invested in saving marriages than solving crimes. Khilli gets into the logistics of the investigation, Winnie tries to track the emotional logic, and Adam mostly wants to know why no one’s reacting to the shoe sticking out of the rug.

Along the way, we get sidetracked by everything from DJ side gigs to the ethics of police congratulations. There's a whole tangent about men drinking tea after disposing of corpses, and another about whether dragging a body through traffic counts as stealth.

By the end, we’re all yelling about who actually killed whom, why, and how this movie somehow ends with everyone smiling. It’s a full breakdown of a film that’s trying to be sexy, twisty, tragic, and cool — and mostly ends up being deeply weird.

Our Takeaways

“He’s going to kill the police officer to get back his DJ Moonlight gig.”Adam
He shoots like three times to make sure he’s dead.”Khilli
“Long story short, he murdered him.”Nicky
“The police congratulates Sudhir and Simran on being able to sustain their marriage.”Winnie

Weirdest Tangent

While talking about all the cheating, Adam pitches a version of Detective Snap where you play as Detective Pikachu, and your job is to take photos of Pokémon having affairs.
